Tribal Décor

Far East Decor

Décor Ave Gifts has some amazing tribal home décor accents in addition to their Far East Décor.  My favorite is the abstract tribal vase, with its vibrant colors and patterns and unique square shape.

There are also tribal masks, a lamp, figurines, candle holders, picture frames and pajama sets with tribal themes.  The earth tones, bold geometric patterns, rich woods and modern feel will make any room in your house pop!

What is Feng Shui?

Feng shui candleholder

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice believed to utilize the Laws of both heaven (astronomy) and earth (geography) to help one improve life by receiving positive Qi. The original designation for the discipline is Kan Yu.

The words ‘feng shui’ literally translate as “wind-water”in English. This is a cultural shorthand taken from the following passage of the Book of Burial by Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty:

Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water.

Many modern enthusiasts claim that feng shui is the practice of arranging objects (such as furniture) to help people achieve their goals. More traditionally, feng shui is important in choosing a place to live and finding a burial site, along with agricultural planning.
Proponents claim that feng shui has an effect on health, wealth and personal relationships.

Get Your Zen On

chinese figurines

Decorating your home in the Japanese style can add a certain amount of mysticism and serenity that you don’t find in Western culture.  Styles such as Americana and British Colonial are seemingly chaotic and built around accents that seemingly serve little purpose.

Far East decor, however, is based on the notion that the placement of everything has its purpose and brings forth peace and attempts to harness your Qi.  Find some simple Asian pieces, arrange them accordingly and see how you feel about it when you’re done.

Scenery Screen

scenery screen

What I like most about the scenery screen that I have in my walls is the different accent it creates; making my plain and simple wall in the living room more interesting to look at. With its various designs, it truly serves as a very lovely adornment to my home.  It compliments well with the rest of my furnishings.

Nowadays, having a well decorated home should never be expensive.  Just like the ones that can be found in this online catalog, all decorative and functional with prices that would suit every budget.

The Significance of the Laughing Buddha

Laughing Buddha Statues are commonly seen in homes, offices, hotels, gardens, restaurants, shops and every which way, but what does it mean?  The Laughing Buddha is a symbol of happiness and prosperity.  He is also believed to be the future Buddha.

In Feng Shui, he is the symbol for wealth. Legend says that rubbing his stomach — which contains wealth, luck, good fortune and joy — will be ours. Laughing Buddha statues are popular as house warming gifts and good luck charms. It is commonly held that statues of the Laughing Buddha must not be placed on the floor; they must be positioned on an elevated surface, as a sign of respect.

Beautiful Tea Set

Ceramic Roses Mini Tea SetThis is a remarkable Ceramic Roses Mini Tea Set tea service set at this price.  The intricate detail in the roses and the trim is reminiscent of the opulence of the British Far East.   Specifically nostalgic of Hong Kong this is a truly rare find in terms of quality, price and design.

This type of craftsmanship is difficult to find in traditional brick and mortar retailers.  Products that we of lesser quality and priced higher are the rule of thumb.  For less than $22 we can have a gorgeous tea set for use or just for display.

Just imagine living in China in 1680. If you were a man, you would shave your head and wear queues. As a woman, you would no longer have to bind your feet if you did not want to. Education and the arts would be a constant part of your life. You would have been part of the Qing Dynasty.

The Qing came from Manchuria and their rule extended from 1644 to 1911 A.D. As foreign rulers, the Qing focused more on agriculture, and Documents were not written in Chinese. Taxes were lower and commerce and international trade expanded during their reign. The use of color in their porcelain figures, as well as, art grew as well.

This Qing Dynasty Princess Figurine reflects the beauty and culture of the Qing’s rule in China. Her graceful lines and rich colors reflects this age of enhanced learning and the arts in Chinese history. She will also make a great conversation topic in your home or office.
