Porcelain is made derived from clay, but is also mixed with several different minerals. Porcelain is known for its luster and white coloring, but is quite fragile. Throughout the different dynasties in China, porcelain was used to create some of the most prized sculptures including bowls, vases, and dolls. Porcelain is also well known because it can be drawn or painted upon with ease, one reason its white coloring made it so popular. Over the ages, porcelain left China and was exported to Europe, where the Europeans created their own unique pieces of art from it.
Chinese dolls made from porcelain are quite popular to this day, and are one of the more modern uses for the material. Porcelain is also used to create fine dishes and other sculptures, and is still prized in many cultures to this day.
